Bolboreta Innova Group promotes "Surcar un sueño" ("Navigating a Dream"), a children's book that inspires children to dream, learn, and believe in themselves

  • The initiative, developed through Bolboreta Impacta, brings science and the values of personal growth closer to children through the story of Cairo, a little pig who refuses to give up on his dream of flying.
  • The project combines literature and education to inspire STEAM vocations from an early age and remind children that curiosity can change a life.
  • The collaboration with the Margarita Salas Foundation will bring the spirit of the story into the classrooms of its STEAM Ambassadors Programme, strengthening early scientific literacy in rural communities and underserved neighbourhoods.

As part of World Book Day, Bolboreta Innova Group, the ecosystem that connects science and the market to transform knowledge into real-world solutions, has launched Surcar un sueño, an educational and socially driven children's book created to bring science closer to young audiences through emotion, imagination, and the desire to discover.

The initiative forms part of Bolboreta Impacta, the company's corporate social responsibility division dedicated to promoting projects with sustainable social impact, and highlights the importance of trying, making mistakes, and trying again.

The project revolves around Cairo, a little pig who dreams of flying. Along the way, he encounters doubts, setbacks, and ridicule. Yet instead of giving up, he observes, learns, experiments repeatedly, and ultimately finds his own path forward. His story is about flight, but it is also about self-esteem, perseverance, and confidence in one's own abilities.

"Some stories entertain, while others stay with you for years. We wanted to create one of those stories that remains with the reader. If a child finishes this book believing a little more in themselves or looking at the world with greater curiosity, then the project will already have been worthwhile," says Itzal Arbide, CEO of Bolboreta Innova Group.

An alliance built around a shared vision

The Margarita Salas Foundation will strengthen this initiative through its commitment to early scientific literacy and STEAM education in communities with fewer opportunities and reduced access to scientific experiences. Both organizations share the conviction that when curiosity is nurtured in childhood, it opens paths that can last a lifetime.

This collaboration will allow the spirit of the story to reach primary school children aged six to twelve in rural areas and underserved neighbourhoods, transforming its messages into meaningful educational experiences adapted to different age groups and designed to foster curiosity and a love of learning.

"Many future scientists and researchers do not discover their vocation in a laboratory, but much earlier, when someone sparks it with a simple question. This project places that spark within reach of children from all backgrounds and reminds them that their ideas matter too," explains Lucía Viñuela, President of the Margarita Salas Foundation..

From storybook to classroom

As a natural extension of the initiative, the project will include educational workshops aimed at primary school students. These sessions will combine reading activities with participatory exercises designed to explore key themes present in Cairo's story, including perseverance, creativity, collaboration, and learning through experimentation.

Creativity and artistic expression also play a central role in the project. Lara Torres, illustrator and mural artist, was responsible for bringing the story to life visually through a hand-painted universe created especially for the book.

"Illustrating this book has been much more than a creative assignment. It has meant giving visual form to values that are part of my own story, such as perseverance, imagination, and the importance of believing in what you carry within yourself. I hope that every child who opens these pages feels that their dreams deserve space, colour, and the freedom to fly," she explains.

Through its role as publisher of Surcar un sueño, Bolboreta seeks to inspire future STEAM vocations while bringing scientific curiosity and personal growth closer to children. The company was founded with the mission of connecting talent and research with projects that improve people's lives and contribute to positive social transformation. It is from that vision that this initiative emerged: planting the seeds today that may become tomorrow's knowledge, innovation, and new opportunities.
