Bolboreta Innova and the Margarita Salas Foundation bring science closer to younger generations through Cairo, an inspiring example of resilience

Bolboreta Innova Group the ecosystem that supports science from the initial idea through to market adoption, has joined SECPHO with the aim of strengthening its position within Spain's deep tech ecosystem and creating new opportunities for collaboration with its key stakeholders.
This membership places the company within a network comprising more than 170 organizations, nearly 1,500 deep tech experts, and approximately 29,500 professionals. Together, the organizations that form part of the ecosystem generate more than €5.8 billion in annual revenue and produce around 2,700 scientific publications every year.
The membership is particularly significant for Bolboreta Innova due to the complementary nature of both organizations' models. While secpho connects the key players involved in deep tech development, Bolboreta Innova contributes a distinctive approach that integrates capabilities across the entire innovation transfer chain, from scientific validation to technological development and market adoption.
Through this step, the company reaffirms its commitment to the deep tech ecosystem, accelerates connections between science, industry, and investment, and strengthens its position as a specialist in transferring scientific knowledge to the market.
"Joining secpho is a natural step within our strategy of building bridges between science, business, and investment. We share the same vision: transforming knowledge into real impact," explained Itzal Arbide, CEO of Bolboreta Innova Group.
Membership in secpho expands the capabilities of Bolboreta Innova's three business units. For Bolboreta Investiga , it creates stronger connections with researchers, universities, technology centres, and emerging technologies, while opening new opportunities to identify knowledge with transfer potential. For Bolboreta Impulsa , it provides access to deep tech startups, additional investment and co-investment opportunities, relationships with other funds, and enhanced technology scouting capabilities. For Bolboreta Desarrolla , it facilitates collaboration with industrial companies and participation in challenges and collaborative projects requiring new technological solutions.
This is complemented by opportunities to participate in open innovation initiatives, technology workshops, matchmaking processes, and consortium-building activities, as well as to promote European projects and international collaborations. The agreement will also facilitate access to talent, specialised expertise, and both public and private funding, increasing the potential to transform ecosystem connections into new technology collaboration projects.
The membership also works in both directions. Bolboreta Innova not only gains access to new capabilities within secpho, but also contributes its own expertise in knowledge transfer, technology validation, specialised venture capital, and technology development, supported by a structure capable of accompanying projects throughout the entire journey from research to market.
"Bolboreta Innova's incorporation into secpho adds the ability to connect stages that too often progress separately. Identifying science with potential is only the beginning. That science must then be validated, matched with the right capital, developed into technology, and connected to industry. Integrating these capabilities helps reduce the distance between a promising scientific breakthrough and a solution capable of reaching society," said Sergio Sáez, Executive Manager of secpho.
Finally, it is worth noting that Bolboreta Innova has already allocated more than €2 million to the validation of scientific hypotheses, invested more than €20 million in over 25 science and technology startups, developed more than 180 projects, and supported over 50 organizations.
