CONTEXT

Technology company with its own CMS and network of digital newspapers. All content, code and infrastructure were under internal control, but the advertising serving system depended on an external open-source adserver, outdated, introducing risks to advertising security and the efficiency of digital advertising, beyond the control of the team.

THE TECHNOLOGICAL CHALLENGE

The main challenge was not to build an adserver from scratch, but to eliminate a critical point of vulnerability that threatened service continuity and digital advertising revenue.

The legacy system presented several severe security and technology risks:

1

Outdated open‑source adserver with known vulnerabilities compromising advertising security.

2

Recurring attacks (DDoS and exploits) affecting availability and continuity of digital newspapers.

3

Ad‑slot hijacking through external code injection, putting digital advertising integrity at risk.

4

Direct revenue impact, as digital advertising was the company’s primary source of income.

5

Excessive, unnecessary functionality adding operational complexity without real value to the advertising core.

The organization had full control over its digital product—except for one of its most critical components: the ad‑serving system.

SOLUTION DELIVERED

A custom adserverwas developed and natively integrated into the client’s CMS and digital ecosystem. Rather than replicating a generic adserver, the solution was built specifically around the company’s real context, technical capabilities, and commercial model.

The Adalid AdServer enables campaign management, ad‑slot control, prioritization and rotation rules, and optimized distribution to maximize revenue without compromising performance.

From a technical standpoint, the solution combines asynchronous requests, lazy loading, and fallback mechanisms—adapting to the technical maturity of each publication. All of this is built on industry standards, with a pragmatic approach that prioritizes control, performance, and security.

The result is not just an advertising manager, but a structural component of the digital product: stable, secure, operationally aligned with the media workflow, and modular and scalable to evolve without rebuilding the system.

RESULTS ACHIEVED

Tangible, measurable impact

  • Elimination of advertising system outages, ensuring high availability across digital media
  • Neutralization of attacks and vulnerabilities that previously compromised advertising security and operational continuity
  • Dramatic improvement in ad‑serving response times
  • Faster, more reliable, and simpler ad management for non‑technical teams (newsrooms)
  • Clear increase in profitability through precise optimization of ad distribution
  • Immediate response capability to new operational and business requirements

Advertising shifted from being a weak point to becoming a stable, reliable component of a high‑traffic media network—supporting the majority of the company’s revenue.

ADDED VALUE:

In a context where urgency could have driven shortcuts, key technical decisions were made with control and discipline. The absolute priority was to build a solid, secure foundation before expanding functionality—applying deep domain knowledge to harden the system where it mattered most.

  • Decisions driven by control, not urgency, with security as the top priority
  • A hardened foundation from day one, resisting pressure for rushed delivery
  • Modular, robust, and scalable architecture from the first release
  • No technical ornamentation—only what delivers real value
  • Risk elimination through deep domain expertise
